We have a motto: “Find chaos … Solve problems”. We run toward that which most run away from. Riots, violence and civil unrest are all signs of a society in transition. While others shrink back, we push in, weaving our way through “windows of opportunities” created when systems are in crisis. Chaos is our friend because disruption spells opportunity for Mission Generation.
Months before Chilean high school students rioted across the country in 2011, resulting in massive school closings, the Chile senate saw it coming. In 2010, they passed a law requiring an Ethics and Morals curriculum to be taught in all schools and asked us for help. That law has five articles which perfectly matched the five pillars of Latin American society used in our program: Identity, Health, Community, Conservation and Economy.
With a perfect fit gifted to us from the Chilean senate, we quickly moved through licensing and accreditation, a process that would have been near impossible for an organization our size under any other circumstance. We launched a pilot program in 2010 and opened nationwide in 2013.
We purposefully targeted Chile, one of the largest emerging economies in the world, knowing that acceptance there would open the door to all of Latin America. For years, the “business as usual” stability in Chile kept us out. People’s confidence in self and their systems created an impenetrable barrier to entry. Upheaval and disruption, however, exposed their need to the only solution that has ever worked – Jesus of Nazareth, The Holy Christ Child, The Son of God!
Desperate situations require radical solutions. The prospect of losing an entire generation of students brought them their knees. They were desperate enough to invite Jesus back to school, enrolling Him once again as Lord and Savior!
The whole of Latin America’s education system is in crisis. They are crying for help, which is why we have been invited into so many counties. We are at the gate ready to deliver—all we need is your help..
