There are plenty of Easter games and crafts for kids, and this post is to offer fun and easy Easter activities for parents who want to teach our kids about the true meaning and importance of Easter.
These Easter activities help our children:
- know that Easter is about more than just the Easter bunny
- see Easter as a reminder that they are forgiven, no matter what
- realize that Easter is a wonderful chance to find hope and rebirth
I’m sharing with you some Easter activities, Easter crafts and Easter games for all ages so that you can easily teach your kids about the Resurrection and teach them about Jesus. In the same way we all want our children to understand the Easter story, Mission Generation wants to share Jesus with children in public schools all over America. Here are some fun and easy Easter activities that families can do together:
#1: Make a Resurrection Tree
Have you ever created a “Jesse Tree” at Christmas time? The Resurrection Tree is a similar concept, except it’s for Easter!
First, have your kids gather a bunch of branches with a few leaves on them and place them in a vase with water. Parents look up a corresponding Bible verse about the word and talk to their kids about it.
Each day kids hang a small card (with a special word about Easter) on the tree. Words like rebirth, forgiveness, sacrifice, grace, joy, resurrection, hope, unity, new creation, peace, power and love.
It’s really easy, and it forces us parents to be creative and even understand the story better to be able to simply explain a beautiful story in a simple way.

#2: Host a Christian Easter Egg Hunt
Do your kids love Easter egg hunts too? Why not use this traditional Easter game as a fun Easter activity for kids that shares about Jesus’ Resurrection?
For Young Kids: Print or draw pictures of pieces of the Easter story. The pictures could be of a donkey, wine and bread, praying hands, a garden, a sword, a cross, a crown of thorns, silver coins, a rooster, etc.
Once you’ve printed or drawn the pictures cut them small enough to fit into Easter eggs than insert them into some of the eggs. After the scavenger hunt is over, ask the kids to look through their eggs. Start with the first item that makes up the story. For example, “Who has the donkey?”
The child that found the donkey raises their hand you can follow with asking if they know what part the item played in the Easter story. The kids will be excited to have a picture that plays a part of the story.
For Older Kids: You can do something similar but instead of pictures you can print or write Easter “gifts.”
Once kids have found the eggs, open them and have an informal discussion about what some of these gifts are and Bible verses that correspond to the words on the cards.
Example of Easter “gifts”: rebirth, forgiveness, sacrifice, grace, joy, resurrection, hope, unity, new creation, peace, power and love.
#3: Color Christian Easter Coloring Pages
Kids love coloring pages, and there are several free printable Easter coloring page online.
Easter coloring page can contain a powerful truth about Easter and you could even write at the bottom of the picture a Bible verse that is relevant to the picture. Easter coloring pages are such an easy Easter activity that shares the true Easter story about Jesus’ Resurrection with kids!

#4: Create a Resurrection Garden
For hands-on kids a Resurrection Garden could be the perfect activity to have your child understand the story. These gardens are a fun way to recreate Jesus’ tomb, and the new life that now grows there!
A Resurrection Garden can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Here is an example of what your DIY Resurrection Garden could look like with instructions and a list of what you’ll need to make it.
#5: Make Resurrection Biscuits
Resurrection biscuits are such a perfect way to teach little ones about the Easter message. And they taste SO GOOD.
You’ll need:
- 1 bag of large marshmallows
- 1 can of refrigerated biscuits, rolled out flat
- 1 stick of melted butter, poured into a shallow bowl
- ½ cup of granulated sugar or coconut sugar and cinnamon (poured into a shallow bowl)
Instructions:
Dip a marshmallow (representing Jesus’ body) in the butter and then roll it the sugar and cinnamon mixture (like when Jesus’ body was anointed with oil and spices during his burial).
Wrap the flattened-out refrigerated biscuits around the marshmallow and place it on a cookie sheet to bake (cook it according to the package directions on the biscuits).
And then the magic comes! When each child bites into the biscuit, they realize that it’s hollow! The marshmallow has melted away and the biscuit is left looking like an empty tomb. The message: Jesus’ body isn’t here anymore because it’s been resurrected! He is alive!
Lastly, Live Out Your Easter Joy in Front of Your Kids
“Actions speak louder than words” may seem so cliche, but it is a cliche because of how true it is! Showing our children our excitement behind Easter will show them that they can be excited about Christ’s death and resurrection, too!
