Today, March 6, is the official start of the Lent season, also known as Ash Wednesday.
Ash Wednesday starts off a season of fasting from earthly things in the 40 days leading up to Easter and ends on Maundy Thursday which is April 18 this year. Lent is a season of prayer and discipline.
Lent is 40 days in length because it signifies Jesus’ 40 days in the desert. We celebrate the end of the Lent season with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
This Lent season is a great time to teach your kids what it means to sacrifice and practice self disciple. By giving up things like soda, sugar, social media, youtube, ipad time, TV time, and other things, you and your kids can help each other stay accountable. Replacing these items with prayer and reading your Bible is a great way to encourage your kids to grow in their faith and ask more questions!
