National Caregivers Day

By: Lexie Dare

On the third Friday in February, we celebrate National Caregivers Day! National Caregivers Day has only been observed since 2016, so it is a relatively new holiday. However, caregivers have been working hard long before they gained the recognition of a holiday.

Caregiving is no easy task, regardless of the care that is being given. Caregivers devote their lives to taking care of our loved ones when we can no longer provide the care that they need. They work long hours and their labor is intense, from lifting patients to bathe them to changing bed sheets and helping our loved ones stay comfortable. Without caregivers, we would be in a world of trouble.

Take some time today to thank a caregiver, maybe even bake some treats and make some cards. This is a great time to have your kids help you and teach them the importance of thanking those who serve us without recognition.
