In the busyness of our lives, it seems as though random acts of kindness can be overlooked. Thankfully, there is a national holiday set aside for random acts of kindness! February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day, so grab your kiddos and show some friends and strangers how much they mean to you!
Here are some ideas for you and your kids:
- Paint rocks with Bible verses and place them around your city
- Pay for someone’s order in the drive thru
- Buy a gift card to give to someone who is in need
- Make cards for those who have an impact in your lives, and hand deliver them!
- Drop off some baked goods for our first responders (Police Station, Fire Department, Hospital)
- Make a personal hygiene kit and give to a homeless person
- Leave sticky notes with Bible verses in random locations
- Let someone get in front of you while waiting in line at the store
- Leave a nice treat on your porch or in your mailbox for our great mail delivery employees
- Compliment a stranger
- Take coloring books up to your local hospital for the children’s ward
- Help with chores around the house that are usually someone else’s responsibility
- Hold the door for someone
- Go through toys and clothes and donate to those less fortunate than you
- Give somebody flowers to brighten their day
- Leave a fun note in a library book
- Volunteer at a nursing home
- Serve food at a homeless shelter
- Make a card and bake some treats for your teachers
- Smile at every person you see for a whole day… or a whole week!
- Write thank you notes and send care packages to those serving overseas
- Invite someone over for dinner
- Sit with someone who is sitting all alone, at church, at school, anywhere!
- Pray for your community
- Collect loose change and at the end of a few months, donate it!
1 Peter 4:10 says: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”. Let’s use our gifts that God has given us to serve one another and show them the kindness!
