We are working with the Mission Generation program at our Boliviano Ingles School. The textbooks and the teacher training have been an incredible means to reinforce the goals we want to achieve as a visionary institution. Current social concerns threaten our youth’s lives, making it harder than ever to teach children positive moral values.
As the principal I am in charge of keeping student’s behavior at school in check. I was receiving an outrageous amount of disciplinary visits to my office daily from misbehaved students but there has been a very noticeable change in our school since we implemented the MG curriculum into the schools’ education program. It is now a rare occasion for a student to visit my office because of misconduct; I now receive visits from students looking for answers about life or the future. I feel like my role as an educator has switched from a disciplinarian to more of a life coach. Some of the most powerful values the students are learning are empathy, respect, discipline, work, commitment and the importance of family relationships. The only thing I can do is thank Mission Generation for the content of their program and for the time they take to work with the teachers and encourage them to continue to work for our country’s development starting with the students at our school. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
