Hey, Parents, cooking with your kids is great fun! In addition to the fun, cooking with them helps in many areas of their lives—socially, intellectually, developmentally, and relationally.
Socially- Taking the time to cook with your kids helps them develop life skills. It prepares them to be independent and cook for themselves. Because you are following a recipe, it also teaches them to follow specific directions and increases their attention spans with step by step follow-through.
Intellectually – When you are cooking with your child, they are focusing, reading, comprehending, doing math, and learning scientific concepts, all of which prepare them and give them an edge in the classroom.
Developmentally – When measuring the ingredients, your child develops fine motor skills. They also increase their attention spans, and boost their self-confidence with a sense of accomplishment.
Relationally – You and your kids spend special time together. It is a time to have fun and laugh with them. In addition, it creates opportunity for them to share things that they might not share otherwise. It pulls both of you away from screens and promotes quality face to face communication.
