**IMPORTANT** Your Stay-cation should be a “No Work Zone”. This means silence your phone, prepare an out of office auto reply on your email, skip watching the news—quality family time counts!
Here’s a sample itinerary idea for a 2 day, 2 night Stay-cation:
Day 1 – Have breakfast at home; Pack a picnic lunch; Rent a convertible for the day; Enjoy your picnic lunch in your favorite park and/or visit a national park in your area; Go get ice cream; Pick up fast food for dinner; Play cards and/or board games after dinner; Stay up late or go to bed early—it’s your Stay-cation!
Day 2 – Go out for breakfast; Come home and go on a leisurely bike ride or hike your favorite trail; Have a light lunch; Spend the afternoon at the zoo, water park, or a local museum; Dinner is an “Everything’s on a Skewer”—make appetizers, main course and dessert on skewers (with everyone contributing to creating and building them); Rent a projector and show movies right in your own backyard (popcorn, oh yes!). Another alternative to the movies is yard games like croquet, badminton, or corn row.
This will start your creative juices flowing on thinking what activities would fit you and your family to have a Stay-cation everyone will love.
