Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17, and is a fun day in the US where we wear green and pinch those who do not. However, Saint Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland, even the banks are closed! Here is a fun craft to do with your kiddos this Saturday on Saint Patrick’s Day!
Thumbprint Shamrock Craft:
What you will need:
- White paper
- Shamrock Template printed onto cardstock (click here for template)
- Scissors
- Masking tape
- Any color paint you’d like
What to do:
First, print out the Shamrock template onto cardstock. It can be any color, as this is just the template!
Next, cut out the shamrock template and use tape rolls to secure it to a blank white paper.
Then, get all of the paint ready for the kiddos to dip their thumbs in!
After you have prepared the shamrock paper, have the kids use their thumbprints and fingerprints to create their own rainbow masterpiece! Encourage them to make consistent thumbprints around the edge of the shamrock to ensure the shape is visible once the cardstock is removed.
Once the kids are all painted out and the paint dries, remove the cardstock shamrock and voila! You have your own custom painted shamrock. Thanks to “A dab of glue will do” blog for the great craft idea.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day, we hope you don’t get pinched too many times if you forget to wear green!
